Hello Narelle!
I am so excited to hear you are planning an adventure on the high seas! I’ll bet you cannot wait to get onboard and start your vacation.
The
Youth Clubs are one of the main reasons why kids love Disney cruising so much! In fact, it’s typically very difficult to even get the kids to leave these fun hangouts!
Edge is designed specifically for ages 11-14, and Vibe welcomes teens ages 14-17. The activities in these clubs are age-appropriate, so that's why generally they try to stick to these age ranges.
I would say that it all depends on the Youth Counselors on whether they will allow a 13-year-old access to
Vibe with parental permission. My son was able to do that when he was 13, but they likely let him because his older sister would be in Vibe and they both wanted to be together. Sometimes it helps if they have relatives or friends who will also be in Vibe. My advice is to go during Vibe’s Open House hours and chat with the counselors to see if this is an option for your child.Hey, it never hurts to ask!
The good news is that
no pre-registration is required for Edge or Vibe, and kids can check themselves in and out of these programs. My two kids have been in Edge and Vibe multiple times, and have made friends with kids from all over the globe there. Edge is probably in a smaller space just because the number of Guests that age range is statistically smaller. But I think it’s as much about who is in the Youth Clubs as the actual size of the space itself.
If for some reason she is unable to go into Vibe this trip, she still has plenty of options to interact with kids her age. The cool thing about being a 12-year old: they have the advantage of being able to visit Disney’s Oceaneer Club, Disney’s Oceaneer Lab, and Edge.
Cruise back to planDisney if you have any additional questions before you set sail. Oh, and please tell Captain Minnie I said hi!
Bon Voyage!
