If you have an active magic band already do you have to relink it to a new reservation?

    Hi Pamela,

Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for asking us a question!

I’ll admit that I have a pretty sizeable collection of MagicBands that I’ve accumulated over the years… I love them all very much, but there comes a time when I just don’t need a new one anymore! (Blasphemy, I know!) The good news is that, because all of my bands are linked to my Disney account, I can re-use ones from previous trips quite easily.

If you still have an active MagicBand associated with your My Disney Experience account and your upcoming stay in a Disney Resorts Collection hotel is linked to that account or profile, then you should be able to use it during your upcoming visit. Simply make sure that your MagicBand is active (which I believe you’ve already done) and you should be good to go! If you have any issues using it during your upcoming visit, a Cast Member at your Resort’s Front Desk or at Guest Relations at any Theme Park will be happy to assist you.

Tip: MagicBands typically only work up to 2 years after their purchase. Sometimes, older MagicBands will still read as “active” which means that you might still be able to use them to enter a Theme Park or your Resort Hotel room, for example, but their other functionalities will be limited. For example, Guests have often had difficulties receiving their Disney PhotoPass Attraction Photos if they’re using an older MagicBand.

Please don’t hesitate to come back and see us if you have any other questions – we’re always happy to help!

    Have a Magical Day,

    Lynne
