I am active duty military and I am trying to understand the difference between a three day park hopper with lightning lane option and a three day hopper Magic Your Way tickets. Other than cost, what is the difference?

Hello there, Tommy, and welcome to planDisney!

It’s so nice to see you visiting us here today and thank you for your service. We here at planDisney appreciate all that you do, and so does Walt Disney World Resort! Disney does an incredible job in honoring those who serve through a couple of different offers. Eligible service members can find savings on Disney Resort Hotels and Theme Park Tickets. As a military spouse myself, I’m happy to share the details on these offerings, as my family has used both this past year.

When we visit, we usually purchase the Disney Military Salute Tickets. You can choose a 4-Day, 5-Day, or 6-Day theme park ticket with the Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus option. Keep in mind you will need to schedule theme park reservations when using these tickets! These tickets can be purchased through Shades of Green or from your local military ticketing office. I was reading through all the available ticket options from Shades of Green, and no longer see tickets that include Lightning Lane Multi Pass. I will give you a rundown of what Lightning Lane is so that you can decide to purchase that closer to your visit. Lightning Lane allows you to save time in line for select attractions available at the four theme parks. So if you’re looking to maximize your time inside the theme parks, this option is for you!

You can also visit with just your theme park tickets and choose not to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This just means you will join the standby line at any attraction you choose, and simply wait the posted wait time. I’ve visited with and without purchasing Lightning Lane, and both options have still led to a magical visit. I will say, if you choose not to purchase Lightning Lane, arrive early! I’ve found that wait times are less during those early hours shortly after the theme parks have opened.

In short, Lightning Lanes are just a way to save time in line and it's up to you if you would like to visit with our without this add-on purchase. If you have any other questions about theme park tickets, Lightning Lane, or anything else, please come back to see us! We are always more than happy to help!

Happy Planning, and thank you again for your service.

Meet the Panelist: Shantel, Alabama

Hi ya Pals! I'm Shantel, an Army wife and mom of two. I grew up going to the parks, and now we're sharing that tradition with our kids. When I am not visiting the Walt Disney World Resort, I'm at home researching and planning for our next trip. One of my favorite things to do is search for new snacks to try, especially if they are Mickey shaped. I'm definitely living the dream my heart wished for! I cannot wait to answer your questions and help make your vacation even more magical!
