Hi Bob,
My family and I love a stay at
The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort. In fact, we just returned from a vacation where we stayed in the cabins. We stayed in the 2800 loop, which is Willow Way. This is the loop where the accessible cabins are located, and there are plenty of other cabins on this loop as well. If you have not yet done so, I suggest that you be sure that your request for location is noted on your reservation. You can do this by calling your travel agent if you booked through one, or by calling Disney directly at 407-W-DISNEY (407-934-7639). Then, when your vacation is about a week away, call The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort directly at 407-824-2837 to be sure that the request is noted on your reservation. Please do know that Disney will do their best to honor the request for the location of your extended family, but it is not guaranteed. I have found that sometimes if I check in and a location that I want is not immediately available, if I can wait a little while to check in, the location I want may become available.
As to directions leaving Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, here is a link from Disney with their recommendations for
good driving routes to Walt Disney World from within Florida, which may be helpful to you. If you need more specific directions, I recommend that you ask a cast member at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground for help.
I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Bob. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
