Is it acceptable to only order desserts and cocktails at California grill to watch the fireworks? Our reservation isn't until 9:45 and there is no way my family, one of whom is special needs, can wait that late to eat dinner.

Hello there, Rachel! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! We appreciate you taking the time to stop back by and ask your Walt Disney World Resort vacation question!

The California Grill at Disney's Contemporary Resort is one of the best and most popular places to catch Happily Ever After from outside the Magic Kingdom! Being located on the 15th floor of this resort makes it the perfect spot for taking in the sights and sounds of Happily Ever After! In addition, the dishes available at this dining location are exquisite! The cuisine at the California Grill is fresh and seasonal which means the menu is tailored to what items are in-season. Regardless of what you order, you simply can't go wrong!

That being said, it is perfectly acceptable for you and your family to order dessert and drinks during your visit! My family and I have done this during our own visits actually! It can be incredibly difficult to find reservations for the California Grill so reservations times are not always at the best time for standard meals. Fortunately, Cast Members are very understanding of this and are not judgmental of your order at all!

I hope you and your family have a magical time viewing Happily Ever After at Walt Disney World Resort! Please be sure to let us know if we can help you with anything else!
