Hiya, Bethany! I couldn't be happier that you're here with this totally tubular question about your upcoming visit to
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park! My family recently visited the water parks for the first time, and I did countless hours of research beforehand, so I know exactly how you're feeling! You have a friend in me!
Bethany, I have to start by telling you that water shoes saved the day for me at the water parks last week. One of my Panelist pals recommended that I buy an inexpensive pair online, and I was so thankful that I got each member of my family a pair. My daughter and I wore them the entire time, and my husband and sons were more on and off. Make sure you get a slip-on pair without buckles or metal. On some of the
high-speed slides, a Cast Member might request that you remove your shoes and hold them on the way down, but you can wear them to protect your feet from the hot pavement as you walk throughout the park. Water shoes are often sold at the water parks, in case you forget yours. Knowing that I typically log 20,000+ steps in the Disney Theme Parks, I am so glad I had foot protection during my time at the water parks!
When it comes to attire, I suggest wearing whatever is most comfortable, practical, and family-friendly. While I'd normally wear a bikini to lounge at the pool, I opted for a supportive and secure one-piece with a small attached skirt for the water parks (it's cuter than it sounds). I didn't want my suit to slip while I was on a waterslide, and I didn't want to feel like I had to rush back for my coverup if I wanted to grab some food or walk around. You'll see all kinds of attire, however, and swimwear with buckles, rivets, and zippers is not allowed. The ultimate discretion is up to the Cast Members, as they reserve the right to deny entry to any person wearing
attire that is deemed inappropriate.
Bethany, since it's your first time at a water park, here are a few other things to know. I suggest arriving already dressed in your swimwear. You can rent a locker for your dry items and personal belongings, and use the changing facilities before you leave. If you're planning to take a bus, please check with your
Disney Resorts Collection hotel before you head out to see which bus you should take. As a reminder, suitcases are not allowed on buses, so you'll want to have a smaller bag handy. My family chose to drive our car to the parks, and I liked that strategy. Ride share is also an option! Bring sunglasses and sunscreen with you. You can purchase these and other essentials at merchandise locations, but I like having them ahead of time. If you need to keep your phone with you, consider a waterproof pouch attached to a lanyard. Designate a meeting spot and time in case your family decides to go separate ways - it's easy to lose track of time when you're having fun! I felt that it was easier to use the towels at the water park than to carry my own. Place a Mobile Food & Beverage Order when possible to save you time waiting in line for food. Stay hydrated and have so much fun!
Bethany, I hope this is helpful to you as you prepare for your first visit to Blizzard Beach! Please stop by planDisney with any other questions you have.
See ya real soon!
