Welcome to planDisney, Susan.
I really appreciate you stopping by with your question. At planDisney, we love helping fellow Guests plan their next Disney adventure.
Susan, you are able to walk up and purchase a theme park ticket on the day of your visit. However, due to the current capacity limits in the parks, your best option is to
purchase your ticket online and make a
theme park reservation ahead of time. If you look at the
Theme Park Reservation Availability calendar, you'll notice that a number of days are completely booked up this month, including October 14.
To avoid disappointment, I'd recommend planning your trip as far in advance as possible. Not only should you purchase your tickets and make your theme park reservation ahead of time, but you should even consider where you'd like to eat ahead of time too. Guests can make
dining reservations up to 60 days in advance of their trip. Therefore, if you'd like to eat at one of the more popular restaurants, you're going to want to try booking a table as soon as reservations open.
Can I also recommend you purchase
Disney Genie+ on the day of your visit too, Susan? You've never had a friend like this! Disney Genie+ will give you "phenomenal cosmic powers" to make Lightning Lane selections at select attractions and skip the regular stand-by lines. You'll be able to experience so many more rides during your visit.
It's really easy to use too. You simply open up your Disneyland Mobile App and tap on the "Tip Board." You can then select the theme park that you're visiting (the default will be Disneyland Park). You'll then get a list of all the attractions. The attractions that are available for a Lightning Lane selection will have a Disney Genie+ box with a return time. If you find a time that works for you, simply tap "Book Experience." You'll then find a list of all the people linked to your account. Simply select the people you want to book this experience for and select "Confirm." Once you scan into the attraction or two hours after you make your current Lightning Lane selection (whatever comes first), you're then free to book your next Lightning Lane.
I hope that's helpful, Susan. See ya real soon!
Mike
