Bright Suns, Karen!
This is an excellent question, and thank you for bringing it to us hEAR at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
When
Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge first opened, I tried to get my
4-year-old padawan to help me fly the fastest hunk of junk in
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, and it did not end well. We got maybe half way through the queue before we had to step out. While we didn't get to the room where Hondo Ohnaka dishes out instructions to the newest recruits, I'm confident that you could make it all the way to the area where boarding job cards are handed out, and explain that someone in your party would like to step out and not venture into deep space. After those in your group are given their boarding cards, you can all have a look around the "main hold" together; you can even take a photo in front of a Dejarik holochess board! Then, when your color group is called, explain to that citizen of Batuu that the bonus member of your party won't be joining your crew for the mission, and they'll lead you to an exit.
Pro Tip: the pre-mission exit should lead to where the normal exit is, which is to the left of where you first entered the attraction. Upon exiting,
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo will be on the second-level of this section of the land, and in my experience is a great place to wait for the remainder of your party. It's also one of my favorite new places to grab a quick bite; I especially love the Batuuan Beef Pot Roast and the Endorian Fried Chicken Tip Yip. And bonus points, this
quick-service dining location participates in
Mobile Ordering!
I hope you enjoy your vacation to a destination far, far away, Karen, and We'll See You Real Soon!
