Greetings, Tyler, and thanks for bringing your
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I sense the Force is strong with you!
Your journey to a galaxy far, far away is going to be here before you know it… and I couldn’t be more excited for you! I checked with a Cast Member, and was told that you will be able to ship your handbuilt lightsaber home from
Savi’s Workshop! Here’s the process: When purchasing your lightsaber at the register, let the “Gatherer” (Cast Member) know that you’d like to ship the lightsaber home upon completion. When you’re done, a Gatherer will help you box up your lightsaber, and then you can take it to
First Order Cargo (located in the corner near the First Order TIE echelon), where a Cast Member can assist you with shipping options. Unfortunately, the Cast Member I chatted with wasn’t sure about approximate shipping costs, but a Cast Member at First Order Cargo will be happy to help you.
If you change your mind and decide not to ship your lightsaber home, you should be able to bring it on the plane home as your carry-on. I’ve heard of Guests storing their lightsaber in the overhead compartment of their airplane. The 31” lightsaber blade can be removed from the hilt (the base) to make this possible. It’s always a good idea to call your airline ahead of time to make sure this option would work for you, if you choose to.
Have you made your reservation for Savi’s Workshop: Handbuilt Lightsabers yet? Reservations can be made
online or on the
Disneyland app up to 14 days in advance. Same-day reservations will be made available each day at 7:00 AM Pacific Time for visits that day, subject to availability.
Also, be sure to head to
Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo for a delicious meal during your day in Batuu! My son and I enjoyed the
Fried Endorian Tip-yip… it was almost like a creative take on a chicken pot pie!
Wishing you a safe galactic journey, and may the Force be with you!
