Am I able to purchase trip insurance for my already booked trip? If so, what is the cost and does it cover any reason for the cancellation, or are there specific criteria that need to be met?

    Hiya, Sharon! Welcome to planDisney!

Scar may be a classic Disney villain, but he had one good idea: “Be prepared!” You never know what life will throw at you, and something like travel insurance can help give you peace of mind as you plan your Walt Disney World adventures.

I’m happy to report that you can purchase a Travel Protection Plan any time before your final payment, which is 30 days before your arrival. It currently costs $99 per adult (price is subject to change), and guests under 17 years old are included at no additional cost. The plan covers common reasons for cancellation, such as illness or travel disruption, and you can find more information about other covered events on the insurance provider's website. You can also speak with a friendly Cast Member on the Disney Resort Hotel Reservations and Tickets line to add travel insurance or if you have any questions.

I just know you’re going to have the best trip to Walt Disney World, Sharon. If you’re staying on-property, make sure you familiarize yourself with the benefits of the Disney Resorts Collection, such as early entry and extended evening hours. There are also so many new experiences at the parks, like Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away and Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After. You've picked a great time to visit!

I hope this information helps with your planning. Don’t hesitate to come right back to planDisney if you have any other questions.

    Magical travels!
