Hi Sarah thanks for swinging by planDisney. Making sure your gym activities are regular is key to a healthy lifestyle. So I'll help you determine what is available to get that sweat and energy out.
Personally, I feel working out and keeping that schedule helps you be your best. But I have always had trouble maintaining that on vacation. And it's even more complicated when the vacation is to the
Walt Disney World Resort. I have dreams of Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars instead of barbells. Can you blame me? I also justify the walking as enough cardio for a month. Unfortunately, only guests of
Disney's Wilderness Lodge have access to the gym and an option to pay a fee for access is not available.
The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort offer so many recreational activities it is almost like a gym spread out and disguised as fun. Need an upper body workout, no problem you cant rent a kayak or canoe. If running is your thing the pine and cypress grove jogging trails lined with meadows are second to none. Basketball courts can help you if you need to run sprints. Some options will have a fee associated with them like canoes, kayaks, or bike rentals. Of course, there are always pools you can get a total body workout. I would suggest arriving at the opening so you have the pool to yourself. While there is no guarantee no one will be there. There may be a merman or mermaid looking to take some laps like yourself and more than likely can avoid each other and still get in your workout.
If you want to do some more laid-back sports what I would recommend at your resort is fishing. You can join the
Guided Fishing Excursions. These catch-and-release boat trips are the kind of off-the-beaten-path experiences that stick with you forever. To relax after those workouts this resort is laden with awesome outdoor experiences like a wagon ride available at
Tri-Circle-D Ranch located right inside of Fort Wilderness. And to cap off your night you can watch the Electrical Water Pageant. It is really a hidden gem among the trees. Enjoy your visit I know it is going to be great.
I hope this information is helpful and instead of an indoor gym, you can get outside and use this resort for all it is worth.
Have a magical day,
Jeremy A.
