Hi Jaime,
Welcome to planDisney! Oh my stars! You’ve booked a stay at the Royal Guest Rooms at
Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside for January 2026?! I can already hear the fireworks and royal fanfare! These rooms are already fit for royalty, and with that magical refurbishment underway, I just know they’re going to sparkle like never before.
While we’re still waiting on official photos of the refreshed rooms, Disney usually shares first looks closer to the reopening, which is expected around the end of January 2026. I’d keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog and their official social media channels. That’s usually where the pixie dust drops first!
While you count down the days to your regal escape, you’re in for some truly magical experiences right at the resort. One of my favorite things to do is hop aboard the
Sassagoula River Cruise. It’s a dreamy boat ride that floats you straight to Disney Springs, perfect for a relaxing evening of shopping and snacking. And if you're feeling hungry closer to home, Boatwright’s Dining Hall serves up cozy Southern comfort food. The shrimp & grits are always a hit, and the whole place feels like a storybook boatyard tucked away in the bayou.
If you happen to be there when
Yehaa Bob performs at River Roost Lounge, don’t miss him! He’s a true Disney hidden gem. A piano-playing whirlwind of comedy, music, and pure energy that makes for an unforgettable night. During the day, I love taking slow strolls along the riverfront paths; it’s especially magical early in the morning or just after sunset when the lanterns start to glow. And of course, Ol’ Man Island is the perfect spot to splash and unwind with a fun waterslide, a hot tub, and even a fishing hole for those feeling a little adventurous.
Your stay is sure to be filled with storybook charm and southern hospitality. I can’t wait to see what the Royal Guest Rooms look like after their makeover! I’ll be watching right alongside you for that first sneak peek. Until then, may your countdown be as magical as the vacation waiting for you!
With royal wishes and bayou dreams,
Emille
