Hi Liz!
After hearing you have chosen a Disney cruise for your family vacation for next year, I'm doing a happy dance! It's definitely an amazing way to explore new destinations and get a lot of bang for your Disney buck. In fact, it may surprise you
all that’s included on a voyage with Captain Mickey.
It's a SNAP to get some great photos made while sailing! One of my favorite backdrops was on our
Star Wars Day at Sea where we used the Force in front of a giant banner. I’ve been able to take my own photos at these themed backgrounds for photo opportunities without having to do a
photo package. However, mine never turn out quite so good as when Disney’s professional photographers take them! And I would assume that initially, for safety reasons, Cast Members may not be taking Guests’ cameras or phones to take photos for the near future. If there is a line, you are correct that Guests have to wait their turn to pose at these backgrounds.
Since it sounds like you are a photography fan, did you know that you can CAPTURE the Photo Package from
Shutters: the Onboard Photography Shop to save some Disney dollars? The package must be pre-purchased at least 2 days before the start of your cruise to get the discount. Then you can "Say Cheese" to all the photos onboard and have them included in your package.
Some other photo opportunities that you don’t want to miss include the opulent chair in front of the Cinderella mosaic near the Atrium Lobby; in a porthole looking out at sea; and a photo at the funnel with the Disney Cruise Line logo lit up at night. Check out these other
picture-perfect ideas shared on the
Disney Parks Blog.

Happy Sailing!
