Hello there, Joy!
Welcome to planDisney and thanks for dropping by with an excellent
Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question.
Oh boy! It looks like you'll be heading to The Most Magical Place on Earth
very soon. Are you ready to have a swell time in the theme parks!? Since there's no time to waste, let's chat about how to set up payment using your MagicBand or
MagicBand+.
Joy, Disney Gift Cards are my favorite way to pay for purchases made at the Walt Disney World Resort. I like to stock up and consolidate/combine them on the Disney Gift Card website just before my trips! At the time of writing, there's no way to link a
Disney Gift Card to your My Disney Experience account. There's also no current option to store a Disney Gift Card as a saved method of payment in the
My Disney Experience mobile app. However, if you'll be staying at a Disney Resort hotel, I recommend visiting the
Front Desk as soon as you arrive. A valid credit or debit card is required at the time of check-in, but you could use your Disney Gift Card to make a payment on your remaining balance (if applicable) or to put a "credit" on your Resort hotel folio account. Then, when you charge purchases to your resort room using your MagicBand, the funds will be pulled from the credit!
I do want to mention that, if you choose to put the entire balance of your Disney Gift Card onto your Resort hotel folio account, you want to be sure to spend the entire amount applied. That's because if you still have funds remaining on your account at the end of your vacation, the Resort hotel is unable to refund the unused balance. Therefore, I encourage you to visit the Front Desk each day of your visit to check on the balance and add more funds, if needed. This will ensure you don't lose out on those precious "Disney dollars!"
Joy, I hope you've found this information helpful and I wish you a most magical and memorable stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. If you happen to dream up any more questions before or during your vacation, you can always revisit us here at
planDisney. We're all ears!
See ya real soon,
Lauren
