Ringing in the new year at
Walt Disney World Resort is a practically perfect idea! It tends to be a busy time, as the fireworks and special celebrations draw people from near and far. I can understand your hope for a
Lightning Lane Premier Pass. Unfortunately, these are available in limited quantities, and it is rare for others to become available once they are sold out.
I checked the
My Disney Experience app, and there are
Lightning Lane Multi Passes available for
Disney's Hollywood Studios and
Animal Kingdom Theme Park on December 30. With a Multi Pass, you pick three attractions at the time of purchase. Once you have redeemed your first Lightning Lane entry, you can make another selection, based on availability. And, if your
theme park admission includes the
Park Hopper option, you can choose attractions from any available at any of the theme parks.
On December 30, you can check the "Wait Times & Showtimes" feature in the app (tap the "≡" at the bottom of the screen to find it). Here, you can see how long the waits are for attractions, as well as the earliest available return time for a Lightning Lane pass. This can give you an idea of availability as you decide whether a Multi Pass is a good fit for your day.
One of my favorite ways to spend time in line is to use
mobile food ordering. A few of my go-tos are mobile ordering a waffle with berries, bananas and chocolate-hazelnut spread from
Sleepy Hollow while in line for the
Haunted Mansion and all the treats at
Karamell-Küche while in line for the
Gran Fiesta Tour.

The
Magic Kingdom is getting a jump start on the festivities with "Fantasy in the Sky" fireworks at 7:30 and 11:50 p.m. on December 30 and again on New Year's Eve at the same times.
On December 31,
EPCOT is celebrating with DJ dance parties around World Showcase. "Cheers to the New Year: A Sparkling Celebration" starts at 11:54 in a dazzling display of jubilation. Hollywood Studios will also feature DJs and dance parties, along with special character experiences throughout the park.
