Am I able to hire a boat from Fort Wilderness campgrounds and take it to Wilderness Lodge and leave it there?

    Hi Natasha!

Welcome to planDisney! I’m excited to hear you’re researching some Enchanting Extras to add to your future vacation. There are always new activities to try at Walt Disney World, and you may discover a new vacation tradition!

The Motorized Boat Rentals are available from marinas at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Beach Club Resort and Villas, Grand Floridian Resort, and Yacht Club Resort. The motorized boats must be returned to the marina where they were rented. The rental pontoons seat up to 10 guests and do not need advance reservations. If you’re interested in spending time on the water and fishing, you can book a Guided Fishing Excursion, which will take you from Fort Wilderness out onto Bay Lake for 2- to 4-hours. I like this experience because it includes a fishing guide, all the fishing supplies, and assorted beverages.

If you’re looking to rent a boat specifically to travel from Fort Wilderness to Wilderness Lodge, there is a water taxi that goes between the resorts during the day, so no need to rent a pontoon!

One more Enchanting Extra I’d love to tell you about is the Wilderness Back Trail Adventure at Fort Wilderness. This is a two hour tour of the resort, with a training session included to get comfortable using the Segway vehicle.

Fort Wilderness is a beautiful resort and I think I gave you several options for exploring the area. If you have any more questions, we’ll be happy to help at planDisney!
