Hello, I am able to go for a single day with my son with a conference. I am booking this late and wanted to see options for paying for a fast pass or options of that nature (did not see it on the web site to add). He doesnt want VIP Tour right now

    Hello Joshua,

Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question! It's exciting to see that you and your son will be able to add a little bit of Disney magic to a business trip. The first thing you'll need to do is purchase your tickets, either to visit just one park or with the added Park Hopper Option if you are trying to visit as many parks as possible during your day. Then you'll need to make a park reservation for the first (or only) park you plan to visit. If you are park hopping you don't need to make multiple reservations.

The FastPass system that you may remember has been retired, but there is still a couple of options that will help you skip the line for some popular attractions. The first is Genie+, an added purchase that will allow you to book Lightning Lane times for over 40 attractions throughout Walt Disney World. If you purchase this option you can make that first Lightning Lane reservation at 7 AM, before you even step foot in a park. You can continue to book new Lightning Lanes, one at a time, either 1) once you've checked into a Lightning Lane that you've already reserved, or 2) 120 minutes after you've booked a previous Lightning Lane.

Now, there are some really popular attractions, like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance or Avatar Flight of Passage that aren't included with your Genie+ purchase. Instead, you can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane, a separate fee per ride to access the Lightning Lane. Guests are only able to purchase Individual Lightning Lane passes for 2 rides per day, but this option is only available for 2 rides in each park, so that's usually enough for most guests.

To add either Genie+ to your existing ticket or purchase Individual Lightning Lanes, make sure you have My Disney Experience on your mobile device. You'll be able to purchase Genie+ beginning at midnight on the day you plan to visit a park. Don't feel like you need to stay up until midnight. You can certainly add it the morning of your visit. It only takes a few minutes to complete the purchase. In my case, I purchased it at 6:50 AM so that I could book my first Lightning Lane right at 7 AM. For Individual Lightning Lanes, if you are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, you can make those purchases at 7 AM; otherwise, you can make them whenever the park you are visiting opens for the day.

Hope this helps. Have a magical day!
    Diane

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
