Hey there Christine,
Welcome to planDisney and thanks so much for your question! This is actually one of my favorite strategies to share because it is genuinely one of the best ways to tackle a full day at the Disneyland Resort.
The good news is yes, you can absolutely do this! The Disneyland Resort does not have a re-entry policy that would prevent you from leaving and coming back the same day. Your
park ticket and
theme park reservation are valid for the full day, so heading out for a midday break and returning in the afternoon (within regular park operating hours) is completely allowed.
My family and I will often do this - especially when we visit during the hot summer months. It's a great way to get a quick break so we can rally for an evening in the parks.
A couple of things worth keeping in mind as you plan your day around this. First, if you're staying at one of the three
Disneyland Resort hotels, this strategy is incredibly easy to pull off since you're just a short walk from the parks. The
Grand Californian even has its own private entrance directly into
Disney California Adventure Park, which makes coming and going feel seamless.
If you're staying off-property, factor in a little extra time for parking, buses, or shuttles when you head back for the late afternoon. The parks tend to hit their peak crowds right around mid-afternoon, so you'll actually be returning at a great time. Lines often move faster in the evening hours, and if there's a nighttime spectacular like
World of Color or
Fantasmic! on the schedule during your visit, it's a wonderful way to end the day.
Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope your trip to the Happiest Place on Earth is wonderful!
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
