Hi Kimberly!
Thank you for stopping by planDisney!
Disney’s Genie and Genie+ service is the latest way to experience Disney parks. Disney’s Genie service will take your preferences and “Must-do” list and create a plan for your day. What makes it truly magical is that it is not a static plan that you would create in advance, but rather a dynamic tool that looks at the crowd levels, wait times, and even the weather at that moment, and constantly adjusts the suggestions to take all of those things into consideration. With the optional Genie+ add-on, you’ll be able to select entrance to the Lightning Lane of select attractions, one at a time, throughout the day, meaning shorter than typical waits!
Currently, Disney’s Genie service is not available at the
Disneyland Resort in California and is only available at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. At this time, the Disneyland Resort has not announced a start date for Genie. Like you, my family will be visiting in a few weeks, and I am hoping it goes live soon, but it may not. Stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for any announcements.
Genie is designed as an on-the-go feature, it is currently only available on a mobile platform. But once Genie is live at Disneyland, you can go onto the app before your visit and select your must-do’s in advance. But know that you are just telling Genie what you want to do, not planning your day just yet. For example, if your first attraction was planned to be Dumbo the Flying Elephant, but there is a lighting storm at that time, Disney Genie will rearrange your touring plan accordingly. Also remember, that Genie+ Lightning Lane sections can only be made one at a time, on the day of your visit. Your actual plan for the day won’t populate until the day of your visit and could change over the course of the day.
Stroller rentals are available on a first-come, first-served basis outside the theme parks and they cannot be reserved in advance. If you'd like stroller for a few days, you could consider renting from Disney's official partner ScooterBug. If you are staying at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels, they will even have it waiting for you at check-in!
Here’s to wishing on a star that Disney Genie goes live for both of our visits to the Disneyland Resort!
