Ahoy, Dawn! Thanks for sailing over to the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. Your voyage is almost here, so I know you are getting excited and making plans to meet Captain Mickey and his crew.
I love
Character Greetings on Disney Cruise Line! They are some of the most memorable moments and usually result in priceless photos. My favorites are when the characters are wearing special outfits themed with the cruise or the particular activities onboard, most notably Donald in his lumberjack shirt on our Alaskan cruise and Mickey in his formal Captain's uniform.
Autographs make for excellent keepsakes, whether they be in an autograph book or on items like pillowcases and picture frame mats. On our
Halloween on the High Seas cruise, we had canvas trick-or-treat bags autographed for my kids, and they LOVED it!
The way it works now is that guests are encouraged to bring their items directly to the Character Greetings to be signed in person while meeting their favorite friends. I much prefer this way because it's way more interactive and the kids actually get to see the characters signing. Extra bonus: you can take photos with the characters in that same interaction and incorporate those photos into the autograph book! Tip: Pre-order the
Photo Package at least two days prior to sailing to save money AND get digital or printed copies of those one-of-a-kind character moments.
To not miss a single Character Greeting that you'd like, be sure to download the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app before you arrive at port. Once onboard, you'll be able to access the schedules for activities, character meet and greets, dining menus, ship maps, and even a fun onboard texting feature. I refer to it as my "compass" that helps me navigate our cruise. Captain Jack would approve! It even sends reminders, so you don't miss an activity or entertainment you had earmarked to see and do.
Wishing you a magical and memorable adventure at sea. Bon Voyage!
