If we're able to buy tickets at the gate, how do we make a reservation beforehand?

Hi there, Bryttany! We are so happy you found your way to planDisney where we love helping Guests plan their visits to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Thanks so much for reaching out with your question. As we all return to the magic, using the new theme park reservation system is a new experience many Guests are using for the first time. While tickets are available for purchase at the Main Ticket Entrance Booth, you are correct that you would not be able to make theme park reservations ahead of time. Guests will need to have a valid theme park ticket to book a reservation and making a reservation is now part of the check-out process on the website and Disneyland Mobile App. It's as easy as a quick wave of your magic wand! If at all possible, I would recommend purchasing tickets and booking reservations ahead of time as reservations can fill up and you may not be able to enter the parks for tickets purchased same-day. If that's not an option for you, I recommend taking a look at the theme park reservation availability calendar leading up to your visit and the morning of to ensure that there are reservations available before you head over to the parks. This is not a guarantee as Guests are always changing their plans and booking and canceling reservations, but it will give you a good sense of the likelihood of being able to enter the parks that day.

There are a few notes about tickets and reservations that may be helpful in your planning. Theme park tickets have a long window so should plans change and you are unable to make your original dates, you can reschedule for another visit. Single-day tickets purchased this year are valid through December 30, 2023, while multi-day tickets can be used through January 12, 2024. If you have your ticket and make a theme park reservation, that reservation can always be canceled and rescheduled, subject to availability, which provides some comforting flexibility. And I always like to tell Guests that the magic in those tickets never fully runs out! Even if your tickets expire, you can always use the value towards the purchase of a new ticket!

Before heading into the parks, you'll definitely want to spend a little time in the Disneyland Mobile App and get familiar with the new, complimentary Disney Genie Service! Befriend the Genie, tell him all your favorite things to do and he will help create a personalized itinerary just for you on the day of your visit! He will even make live updates as you move through the parks!

Well, Bryttany, this was a lot of information! If you have any follow-up questions, come back to see us at planDisney!

    Magic awaits!
