Hi Isabel,
Thanks for sailing by planDisney with another great question. I appreciate you thinking through your beverage allowance in advance before your exciting
Disney Cruise Line vacation. I see my pal
Lauren recently shared the guidance for alcohol in that each guest has a set allowance to bring onboard with you, so I’m happy to clarify additional beverages and share some ideas.
While each adult has their required limit for alcohol
per policy, you can always shift items among your bags with your family once you are onboard to your comfort. As for non-alcoholic beverages such as water and soda, there is technically no limit but I confirmed with a friendly Disney Crew Member that these beverages must all fit into your carry-on bag (which is self-limiting). Your
carry-on bag can be no larger than 22” x 14” x 9” to fit in the security scanner and to manage the overall number of additional items brought on by Guests. An additional luggage cart would not be allowed onboard, unfortunately.
Please remember as you’re planning your carry-on baggage load that your stateroom won’t be ready until the afternoon so you must keep your bags with you at all times until you can secure them in your stateroom. Drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) must be in a sealed, marked, original package and these bottles can be heavy so please consider your safety and comfort when planning to bring these with you on the ship that first day.
You may choose to purchase a water package prior to arrival, Isabel. I’ve done this before, it’s quite simple through
Onboard Gifts and Amenities, and the icy cold bottles were waiting for me in my stateroom refrigerator upon arrival. You'll also find they sell water packages, often with a fun soft cooler, on deck before any sail away activities, too if you wish to purchase once onboard. This saves me the hassle and logistics of toting water bottles during travel along with other critical carry-on items such as medication and embarkation day necessities.
My family always brings refillable bottles with us on our cruises, and I encourage everyone to pack one as a cruise must-do! There are complimentary unlimited refills available at a beverage station on the pool deck on all ships, as well as water bottle refill stations. While I always purchase bottled water for our Florida theme park visits, I find the water onboard Disney Cruise Line to be delicious and fresh thanks to their
reverse osmosis process of recycling seawater! You’ll find a variety of Coca-Cola products in the fountain soda station as well as lemonade, Power-Aid, tea, hot cocoa, and coffee. If you require a can of soda to your preference, these are available at the bars and lounges for a small fee.
I hope this helps you think through what to bring for your cruise based on your carry-on bag style, comfort level, and preference for certain items onboard. The beverage stations are such a great amenity on a Disney cruise, and you’ll soon feel at home carrying around your cup with a fresh drink throughout the day and at the beach!
Please let us know how else we can help you make the most of this sailing with our guidance and research for you.
Wishing you a magical cruise – cheers!
Amy
