Will I be able to bring my emotional support animal to Disney world with me and stay in my hotel with me? I have a resort reservation for August at Art of Animation.

Hey there, hi there, ho there Amber! Welcome back to planDisney, and thanks so much for stopping by with your question. It sounds like you’re getting ready for a magical stay at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! With so much to look forward to, from the theming to all the fun in the parks, it’s wonderful that you’re planning ahead and asking about accommodations for your emotional support animal. I’d be happy to help you understand what to expect during your visit.

You can bring your emotional support animal to stay with you at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort, as it is one of the few Disney resorts designated as dog friendly. However, emotional support animals are not considered service animals under Disney’s policies or the ADA. That means while your dog can stay in your hotel room, it will not be allowed in the theme parks, water parks, Disney Springs, or most public areas.

At Art of Animation, you’ll need to make sure you have a room in a pet-friendly section. There is an additional nightly fee of $50 (subject to change) for bringing a dog, with a limit of two dogs per room. According to Disney's Dog Agreement, dogs must be leashed when outside your room and are not permitted in pool areas, dining locations, or other indoor common spaces.

Since your emotional support animal won’t be able to accompany you into the parks, Disney offers a convenient solution: Best Friends Pet Care, a full-service pet boarding facility located on property. It opens one hour before the parks and stays open one hour after they close, making it a good option for daytime care while you enjoy the parks.

To summarize, you’re welcome to bring your emotional support dog to stay at the resort with you, but the dog will not be allowed in the parks. Be sure to reserve a pet-friendly room by calling (407) 939-5277, follow the resort’s rules regarding pets, and consider boarding your dog at Best Friends Pet Care during your park visits.

Amber, I hope this helps you feel more confident and prepared as you plan your Disney World adventure. Thanks again for reaching out to planDisney, if any other questions come up, we’re always here to support you. Wishing you an unforgettable and truly magical vacation!
