Hi there, Laura! Welcome to planDisney! I'm so glad that you've stopped by with such a great planning question.
It sounds as if your planning is off to a practically perfect start! An oh-so-fun and delicious dinner at
Sci-Fi Diner Theater Restaurant followed by
Fantasmic! is the best way to cap off the most magical Disney day. Now, let's see if we can figure out a way to squeeze in both of your Disney's Hollywood Studios must-dos.
While there is no way for me to know if you will be able to enjoy your Sci-Fi dinner and grab a seat for Fantasmic!, I do think it might be cutting it too close for comfort. As you know, Fantasmic! is a very popular nighttime spectacular, and Guests are allowed to begin lining up at the amphitheater 90 minutes before showtime. That means that other Guests will be lining up right when you have your dining reservation. While you
might be able to check in to your dining reservation 15-20 minutes early, get seated right away, get to the amphitheater 30 minutes early, and get a seat for the show, it is definitely possible that the stand-by seating will be full by then. And when it comes to a must-do, I never want to risk it (or rush through a delicious meal).
I suggest trying to move your Sci-Fi reservation to an earlier time. If no other times are available currently, Hakuna Matata! It means "no worries." Just try, try and try again! Guests' plans change all the time, so keep checking until the day before and even the day of! The easiest and fastest way to check if additional times have become available is to log in to your My Disney Experience app and tap "Future Plans." Find and tap your Sci-Fi reservation and then the "Modify" button. Here, you can search for and book a new time if it becomes available.
While you are searching for dining reservations on the app, I recommend also searching for a
Fantasmic! Dining Package. A dining package allows you to enjoy a delicious meal and VIP seating for Fantasmic! so that you don't have to show up super early to snag premium seating for the show. You can even dine at Sci-Fi! It's a win-win!
While this probably wasn't the answer you were hoping for, Laura, I hope it was at least helpful. I will be wishing upon an evening star that you get to enjoy both of your magical must-dos at Hollywood Studios. Please feel free to stop by with any questions you may have. See you in the parks!
You've got a friend in me,
