Hello! I see I am able to use my Apple Watch in place of a Magic Band, but from a question last year I see it is not able to act as the key to my resort door. Is that still the case, or can I use my watch to access my room now as well? Thanks!

Welcome to planDisney, Cody! I bet you're just counting down the final hours until you take off for your trip to Walt Disney World Resort. Taking care of your tech needs before you leave is a great idea so let's chat about your Apple Watch and what you'll be able to do with it.

Since the introduction of Disney MagicMobile Service, guests have been able to use a smartwatch connected to a mobile wallet to do things conveniently like enter the Theme Parks with your tickets or tap into a Lightning Lane when you're using Disney Genie+ Service. At this time, your smartwatch cannot be used to open your Resort Hotel room door, but don't worry because you have options! If you have a MagicBand connected to My Disney Experience account you can use it to open your door, and you can also use the key card that they'll give to you at the Front Desk if you request one. You can also unlock your room door using the My Disney Experience app! Just open up the app and tap on your Resort Hotel reservation, select "Unlock Door" and hold your phone against the door lock. It's really easy, and probably the best way to take advantage of Direct-To-Room service, so you can check in online and head straight to your room when it's ready!

I hope this answers your question, Cody, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation.
