Hi there, Carly!
I'm happy to hear you're planning to purchase Walt Disney World Resort
theme park tickets, because that means an upcoming Disney vacation is in the works. There's so much magic in the air at Walt Disney World, and I'm excited you'll be a part of it!
Guests can absolutely purchase Standard Theme Park tickets and upgrade to add the
Park Hopper Option, even up to the day you'll be using the ticket. With a standard ticket, Guests receive admission to one theme park per day for each day of the ticket. There are four awesome theme parks to choose from:
Magic Kingdom Park,
Epcot,
Disney's Hollywood Studios, and
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park.
With an upgrade to add the Park Hopper Option, Guests may visit more than one park on the same day. (even all four parks if you choose to be that adventurous!) There are certain guidelines to follow when using Park Hopper tickets during Walt Disney World's
phased reopening: Guests will need a
Disney Park Pass reservation to enter the first park they'd like to visit. The Guest must physically enter that park by scanning a
MagicBand, theme park ticket, or using Disney's
MagicMobile service at the point of entry, before hopping to a second (or third, or fourth) theme park after 2pm. At this time, a park reservation isn't required after the first park, but these requirements are subject to change. Also, the ability to "hop" to another park is subject to that park's capacity limitations. (I've been to Walt Disney World numerous times since Park Hopping was reintroduced, and have had no issues with park capacity limitations affecting us being able to visit other parks.)
There are two easy ways to upgrade a Standard Ticket to a Park Hopper ticket:
1) With a quick visit to
Guest Relations before you enter the theme park, a Cast Member can upgrade your ticket for you. You can find Guest Relations locations right outside the entrances to all four theme parks.
2) You can also upgrade your ticket yourself through the
My Disney Experience mobile app. Just a few quick steps and you'll be ready to park hop! When you open the app, choose the menu option in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Select the "Tickets and Passes" icon, and you'll be taken to a list of the theme park tickets associated with your account. Select the ticket you'd like to upgrade, and you'll see an option to "Change Ticket". You'll then be able to change the Ticket Type and add the Park Hopper Option.
I hope this helps with your question! Please come visit us here at planDisney with any other questions before your trip - we'd love to give tips and advice to help you add a little extra magic to your Disney vacation.
